I stitched on 36ct "Cactus Green".
The chart is "Hedgehog Meadow" by Owlforest Embroidery.
It is a very meadow of hedgehogs!
I used DMC's regular threads instead of the step-dyed threads.
Considering the design and the coloring, I thought it might be cute enough to use DMC's clear, crisp colors instead of the soft, step-dyed threads, but the mushrooms and flowers turned out much prettier than I expected and I am very pleased with the result♪
Now the fabric is "Cactus Green".
This was the first color I made for the White Bear Linens line.
I wanted this kind of dark but bright green because I had in mind that "Hedgehog Meadow" was stitched on this kind of colored fabric, and I had a vague idea that it would be good for stitching Mirabilia's beautiful fairies.
Many cross stitch and embroidery designs celebrate nature and animals, and I wanted to create a versatile green that would be easy to use when stitching such designs.
When I first started dyeing linen for cross stitch, I made beige to brownish colors, like I was obsessed with them! I realized that I needed green, and it wasn't long before I had this "Cactus Green".
I think it was because I had this chart and Mirabilia's design in my head.
I can dye this color consistently no matter how many times I dye it, so it is an excellent green even for a dyer.
Stitching this design on the finished Cactus Green fabric was truly a dream come true!
I have wanted to stitch this design for a long time, and I still feel a little strange that I will one day be able to stitch it on linen that I dyed myself.
How cute are these smiling hedgehogs!
